Dear Toronto
Dear Toronto is a Web site that features video content about the city of Toronto. Also known as a video podcast, we focus on events and themes of all sort that we find interesting in Toronto, including such things as live music events, performance art, festivals. We also cover what makes the city tick and profile notable people in the city.
We publish new video content on a weekly to bi-weekly basis. There is an enormous amount of people and places to see in Toronto that are just waiting to be discovered, and we hope to shed some light on those as best we can.
The site was launched on February 11, 2008 with two episodes. Video content is shot, produced, and edited collaboratively between the site’s contributors, Rebecca, Adam, and Ryan. Keep reading for info about the team.
Rebecca Black
Producer
Rebecca Black is a west coast import making love to Toronto. She is currently enrolled in her 3rd year of Ryerson’s journalism program. Rebecca performs regularly with her burlesque troupe, the Atomic Cherries. On top of video blogging, homeworking and pasty twirling she makes time for longboarding, writing and bonsai growing. She also works as a waitress at her campus pub and enjoys the theatre. If Rebecca could have one super power she would choose time control.
Ryan Couldrey
Producer
Ryan is incapable of writing in the third person. I’m a wedding/portrait/concert/editorial photographer as well as a new/old media junkie. I grew up in Montreal on a steady diet of SEGA, and recently graduated to a PS3 (Ry-Tron is the nick), and a Steam account on my PC. I studied computation arts and music business administration before realizing I should’ve just gone to trade school. I have too many things going, but when I’m under duress I make Ninja Dolls for the local mafioso. If I had one power I would shoot fireballs outta my hands. I would abuse this power mercilessly for my own gain. I’d hit Adam first before he could use that Professor-X crap on me. Tweet me, face me, flick me, quest with me.
Adam Schwabe
Producer
Adam works in the tech industry designing user interfaces and making the Internet a friendlier place for everyone. He has a passion for writing, and got into blogging in his teens, contributing to various video game fansites, before discovering his passion for the city in which he lives and works. He also writes and photographs for blogTO (Ryan’s note: I love strike-throughs, they’re so dramatic) where he met his co-producers of Dear Toronto, and maintains a personal site and blog as well. If he could choose a superpower, it would absolutely be telekinesis.
